Thanks for watching!
I always disassemble my comandante above a sewer grate.
😂
Gotta live on the edge, am I right? 🤙🏻
Just pre-ordered my Comandante. Should be coming in a couple weeks. Impatiently watching all of your videos, haha. Man... I can't wait to get my hands on this 😍
Thanks so much for your support and patience Martin!! All the best from Munich!!
Extremely useful videos. Thanks for making these.
Thanks for your feedback Joseph!
thank you for making those videos. This was very helpful. I'm diling in my red clix now ;)
Awesome! Thanks for your support and have fun with your Red Clix :)!
Best,
Joe
Great video
Gutes Video und ein Sehr gutes Produkt.
James Hoffmann’s review guided me to here, looks like a damn fine product 👍
Thanks!
Great video!
Just got my new Comandante and the red clix upgrade.
For some reason I got new spring and 2 washers in the red clix kit?
What should I do with them?
Thanks for your support! Yes that's normal -- we include those spares just in case. If, in the worst case, someone were to lose a washer or spring whilst swapping over their axles, then the spares are included :).
Hello! Thanks for making such an awesome product! I'm considering buying my first Comandante soon when they become available again here in Sydney (Australia). They are currently all out of stock. Could you please advise if you will be releasing a new version such as the MK4 soon and whether it's worth waiting for that? Considering it is a big purchase for me, It would be great if you could give us a heads up. I don't want to buy the MK3 only to feel like I missed out on something more new and exciting had I waited a little longer.
Thanks for the kind words! We can understand the hesitation, because it's to be expected that we're always testing and developing new ideas :). But consider this: the MK3 Nitro Blade is already the preferred choice of the last two World Brewer's Cup Champions, Emi and Douzi, so it's clear that an MK3 is and always will be a wise decision and and excellent choice! We won't be discontinuing it any time soon, so we don't think you'll be disappointed ;).
Hi
I am from Poland.
I bought a Comandante C40 MK4. I recommend. MK4 is amazing. Good luck and best regards Marek
@@xxxmarekxxx505 Thanks for your support!
SUPER!!!!!!!
Hey, I just got my red clix and I've got also one question: Where is the "zero" position with the red clix? It feels different from the standard axle. Like, when I screw the dial into my grinder, there is a point where I could not turn the handle anymore, but I still can screw in the dial even more by hand (for 2-3 clicks). so I'm not sure if the zero clicks position is where I can't turn the handle or where I can't turn the dial.
Hi there Max and thanks for your support!
The important thing is that you decide for you what is the repeatable and simple definition, so that you have the same reference point each time you dial in :). I prefer to use the first click setting where the handle can't fall under gravity, since it is the minimum stress required on all parts that gives me a reference point from which to count my clicks. But you can and should decide what you prefer :).
All the best from Munich!

I have a question, I currently use my comandante for drip, 24 clicks works for me. Sometimes I use 9 clicks for espresso, what "clicks" settings would be be equivalent to these after installing red clix. I'm trying to figure out difference when I'll be switching between espresso and drip. Thanks.
Hi there! Thanks for your support!
Red Clix doubles the quantity of possible settings within the same particle size range. It's therefore good to use double the standard axle setting as a starting point, but be aware that you may need to fine tune a little to find the same particle size/the one that tastes best to you :). Especially because different coffees need different settings! Best, Joe
I have a new mk4 that I picked up from a retailer in Singapore this past week along with redclix.
I am grinding for espresso on a rancilio silvia pro vst basket 20 grams. I dose 20 grams with red clix 16 clicks and my shot gushes in 5 seconds. I can only pull a decent shot (24-30sec 1:2 ratio) at 8/9 and maybe 10 clicks on redclix which is like 4-5 regular clicks.
I have zeroed my grinder as per Comandante’s instructions where the crank doesn’t fall by gravity. Beans are monsooned malabar, costa rica tarrazu both espresso roast.
Is my grinder faulty as with red clix I really shouldn’t be having to go down to 9 clicks for a 27 second shot. Any insight is much appreciated.
Hello there Saurabh! Just sent a reply to your email :). TL;DR -- so long as you can brew an espresso, there's nothing to worry about :).
Best,
Joe
Does Red Clix work on Trailmaster?
Hi, I just got my Red Sonja (gorgeous!) and the Red Clix today. I got the Red Clix specifically for espresso that I want to grind in the future, but right now only need my C40 for filtered coffee (AeroPress, French Press, etc). Would you guys recommend using the Red Clix for anything besides espresso or should I just swap it in/out whenever I want to grind for espresso? Would it cause any problems if I used Red Clix as my daily choice for everything? Just trying to be considerate of how I use my Comandante Grinder. Thank you and thanks for building such a quality and beautiful product!
Hi there Bobby! Thanks for your support! There is no issue at all using the Red Clix axle for everything! It just means that when you're setting the grind for a filter coffee, you'll have to count a lot further back from click zero, so it's up to you to decide if this feel impractical or inconvenient :). We supply C40s with the standard axle because most users brew solely filter coffee and having fewer clicks to choose from is a practical advantage, with no disadvantage for grind setting resolution/accuracy! (30 micron steps on the standard axle are perfectly sufficient for filter coffee, but 15 microns steps with Red Clix are great for Espresso because of the sensitivity of brewing under such pressure, where the particle size has an amplified influence on flow rate.)
@@ComandanteGrinder thanks so much for the quick reply. Decided to keep my Red Clix in the box until I get my espresso machine, so for now using the standard axle which has worked beautifully. LOVE my C40 and very happy with my purchase. Quality from end-to-end ❤️
@@bobbyomari5500 That's so great to hear! Thanks a lot for your kind words and support 🙏🥰. Wishing you many a fantastic brew and all the best from Munich!
the red sonja is SUCH a nice color!! i really love mine :)
Hard to find this grinder in the USA. Any suggestions on how to buy the Comandante grinder?
Hi there! Thanks for your support :). Global demand is extreme this year and we're doing our best to keep up with it in production. We supply regularly but many markets sell out quickly! Please check the online stores of our US Dealers as listed on our website: comandantegrinder.com/index.html#dealer
Many thanks and best regards from Munich!

I wonder why c40 not coming with red clix as a standard? I'm sure it's not more expensive to produce, there's just more threads. I use my c40 for espresso and aeropress and I don't mind changing settings from 10 to 20 so I'm sure I wouldn't mind changing it from 20 to 40.
Hey there Rafal! Well, it is more expensive to produce, but that's not the only reason :).
The vast majority of users are home users who brew filter coffee only. We chose 30 micron changes in the resulting median particle size on our standard axle because the variables in the beans themselves cause typical variations of 20-25 microns per dose. We wanted to make sure that each click made a noticeable taste difference and kept things more simple for cleaning, counting clicks, and generally dialling in.
Red Clix shifts the narrow burr gap by 6 microns per click, changing the resulting median particle size by 15 microns per click. It is designed for espresso and advanced users, including competitors, to enable more fine control over grind setting. It also needs to be used with care, because it's such a fine thread.
For daily use and for cleaning (incl. removing the burr from the grinder), Red Clix makes it more work because it means counting twice as many clicks, unscrewing the dial twice as far, etc etc. For some users this isn't a problem, but that's a matter of personal taste and just as many would prefer for things to be kept simple. Our solution is to therefore offer the choice to make the C40 more advanced for those who want it, without limiting anyone's choice of model - keeping it more financially and practically accessible to everyone :).
Thanks for your support!
Best,
Joe
Hi, where can this RX35 Red Clix Axle be purchased? The retailers in France (where I live) only sell the regular product.
Hi there Michel! I know that our friends at KB have some! >>> kbcoffeeroasters.com/products/red-click-pour-commandante-grinder
@@ComandanteGrinder Wow, many thanks for that!
Hey guys just installed my Red Clix and figuring out how to dial it in for my Rocket Appartamento! What do you suggest is a good starting point for espresso w/ the Red Clix?
Hey there Bobby! Great stuff! If you'd already dialled in on your standard axle we would recommend starting with double the number you used before - i.e. if 9 clicks worked great, try starting at 18 this time :). Otherwise, try starting around 18 clicks anyway and dial in from there to suit your coffee and taste ;). Enjoy!
I've read somewhere '10 to 15' with normal axle. My coffee was pretty light roasted, so I thought 'better start fine' so I started on 22 on the red axle. The coffee just shot through. Then went 18, and there was still very little pressure.
After reading some more you'll see reports that someone uses 5 clicks for espresso, while someone else uses 12 clicks (and this is with the normal axle).
It just shows the huge variation that coffee, temperature, water, elevation and taste preference brings.
Just make sure you keep everything as consistent as possible, so that you can pull consistent shots. When you have that, start adjusting. Clean visible left-overs after each shot so you start 'fresh', and don't ever go thinking 'this must be too fine, I've read online that that one guy...'. Adjust by taste, not by internet 'wisdom' :P.
Can the normal spring be used in the red Clix? or how to differentiate the spring from the red clix spring? Help
Yes, it can be used. It's the same type of spring ☺️
Would the Red Clix be compatible with my Mk II? I'm using it to grind espresso with the Flair Signature and would like to upgrade to the larger brewheads which require a finer grind. Seems like I'm about maxxed out already on the Mk II, as I'm often at 0, 1 or 2 clicks to get a quality pull. Is this an issue with my Mk II?
Hello there, unfortunately Red Clix isn't compatible with Mk2. It really is a huge jump in performance from that generation to the current generation of C40 with our Nitro Blade burr. Please reach out to our team via info@comandante-grinder.com to ask about our exchange program :). Thanks for your support!
@@ComandanteGrinder Thank you for your response and service opportunity! I will definitely take advantage of that :)
the upper bearing is stuck on the axle and would not come off. it spins, and works fine if I put it back, but it is absolutely stuck and I cannot remove it no matter how much force I apply or if I lube it with mineral oil. any suggestions on how to remove bearing that is stuck on an axle?
Hello there! It sounds like you can reassemble and use the grinder like normal? I hope that's the case :).
If you can polish the axle with some steel wool or abrasive fleece in the location where the bearing gets stuck then you can smoothen the surface so that the bearing can move off the axle more freely. (We don't use glue to fix anything, so it's not a problem if the bearing comes out, since you can push it back into place and assemble as normal).
In any case, please send an email to our Support Team at support@comandante-grinder.com so that we can help you troubleshoot and solve the 'sticky bearing' issue -- Comandante is here to help :)!
@@ComandanteGrinder thanks for your reply, I'll email in with some pictures. The problem is that the bearing is "stuck" whereever it is on the axle, suggesting the issue with the bearing, not the axle. But yeah, I'll email in, thanks for a response.
Hello, how many clicks in red clix (max)? And standart axle how many clicks? Thank you
Hello there! There are around 50 settings on the standard axle before the adjustment dial comes off the axle. For Red Clix it is therefore around 100. Settings after 40/80 (respectively) would generally be too coarse for normal use :). Hope that helps!
Comandante Grinder thank u Mr. - Is the spin speed important for prevent to burn coffee beans?
@@manyak0 You're welcome :). Temperature isn't really an issue for the smaller quantities of coffee that you would grind (less often) with a hand grinder. Speed is important in another aspect though: if you go too fast (more than 3 turns per second) then often it is slower to grind your beans, because the beans don't fall into the burr effectively. We designed our burr for optimum performance, efficiency and ease of use in the typical range of 80-160rpm :). Hope that helps!
Die beiden gelb markierten Kugellager die dem redclix beiliegen finden keine Erwähnung. Muss man diese auch tauschen gegen die eingebauten blauen oder kann man die blauen drin lassen?
You can leave the blue ones and just have the yellow ones as potential spare parts. They are identical, just the colour is different.
I just bought the Red Clix, but I can´t find the Zero. On the regular Click, i just reach a point where the handler stop moving contra clock wise and that was my Zero, but with the Red Clix, i can´t reach that point. It´s that Ok?
Thak you, i Love my Comandante, if there´s ever a fire in my apartment, i would grab one guitar, the Comandante and leave everything else.
Thank you.
Hey there Nicolás and thanks for your support! It sounds like maybe you haven't inserted the top washer *before* the axle. Please double check that you installed everything correctly by following the steps in the video carefully. The top washer should be put in place first, *then* the axle inserted into the grinder. That should solve it :).
Best,
Joe
Would the red clix be available in Poland anytime soon? It seems they are all gone now?
If they are currently sold out at your local dealer it shouldn't take long for them to restock :). Perhaps your local reseller can give you an estimate? If it's 'urgent' 🙃, then you'll be able to find one at another European shop - shipping within Europe isn't too expensive :).
@@ComandanteGrinder been out of stock for at least a quarter now :(
@@jsiminski Yes I'm afraid that waiting times are to be expected at the moment :(. The global demand for our grinders is so very high that our production can't quite keep up. Lots of people making coffee at home these days... the situation will improve and the wait is worth it too :). Perhaps you can find one at a reseller in a different country :). Thanks for your support and understanding!
Hi, may I know if the washer and springs that come with RX35 is the same as the default ones?
Hi there Kevin! They are absolutely the same :). We include them in the set because those are parts that someone might lose if they are unlucky whilst swapping the axle over -- better safe than sorry! :)
@@ComandanteGrinder well understood. Thanks for being considerate :)
@@GuitaristBoi9 ☺️👍 Thanks for your support!
Hi @Comandante Grinder, is it necessary to change the spring and washers over to the ones that come with the Red Clix, or are they the same as the standard ones? Thanks :)
Hello there! No need to change them :). We wanted to include the spares as a little extra, and also to avoid any risk of anyone losing anything important when they install their new axle! Have fun with your Red Clix!
@@ComandanteGrinder Hi, thanks for relying so quickly, mine is arriving tomorrow and I can't wait! Best :)
@@soulieonashoestring9578 Great! Enjoy!
@@ComandanteGrinder Thanks for clarifying this. Because when I switched out my original spring/washers for the ones that came with red clix, I couldn’t zero out the burrs, or produce espresso range grinds.
After reinstalling red clix with my original standard spring/washers, the grinder performed much more as expected. My red clix espresso setting 12 had the same timing/resistance as my standard setting 6.
@@rywing4328 Glad to hear you're enjoying your Red Clix axle! If you couldn't zero your burrs the first time then you probably accidentally inserted the axle before the top washer, rather than after it. But no worries, sounds like everything is working a charm now :D! Happy grinding! Best, Joe
Is it compatible with C60 version?
Hello, the current RedClix set is not officially compatible with the C60 since the bigger burr might stress the polymer clicker too much potentially leading to damage of the parts. That's why we don't recommend using the RedClix in C60 Baracuda. In the future we might be releasing a RedClix specially made for C60. For now on we think that the GoldClix offers enough flexibility for the majority of the users to perfectly dial in their brews ☺️
Wenn bei der Standardachse 1 Klick = 30µ sind und bei der Red Clicks-Achse 1 Klick = 50µ, dann ist die Verstellung mit der Standardachse doch deutlich graduierter möglich?! 🤔
Bei Red Clix sind es 15µm :).

Are you grinding Turkish coffee?
If you are asking if its possible: Yes normal axle would it be 4kclicks from 0 so totally possible :)
Hi there Markos! As Stacks2Hell says, this is no problem for your C40 :)!

What would you suggest to do when the bearing is stuck on the axle? (The bottom one in my case. It's just stuck near the thread)
